WOD Powders Athlete Interview: Tom Wright
We're joined by 20 year old British Weightlifter, sports model & WOD Powders athlete: TOM WRIGHT to find out a bit more about him.

Where did your passion for weightlifting come from?
Tom: My passion for weightlifting really started I’d say around 3 years ago. Although I’d been doing CrossFit for 2 years before that, I really started to notice oly lifting was a strength of mine. I’d always love a max out or complex. Lifting big at a CrossFit comp was always a highlight of all my comps and others began to tell me it was a big strength of mine so I went with it!
Is there a coach or athlete you look up to and why?
Tom: I really look up to the UK games athlete Joshua Al-Chamaa. To go from being raised London and having such a drive to winning the games with Invictus and living his dreams out in LA. He really for me is someone who believed it and did it!
Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of sports?
Tom: Outside of sports I’m a big funk and soul music lover! I love training to the Isley brothers, Michael Jackson, The Spinners, Stevie Wonder. You name it ! And to be honest, most my big lifts have come whilst listening to those tunes. Oh and I’m a huge movie nerd ! Scarface is my GOAT film.
Which supplements do you take daily from WOD Powders?
Tom: When it comes to Daily WOD Powders sups. My two absolutely essential are the Elite Greens and Creatine Rx. I can genuinely say I have taken Elite Greens for the past 8 months and have not fallen ill for anything longer than 48 hours. I have for years struggled with my immune system and giving my gut health what it needs. I went from being run down and falling ill every one to two months to having the best year of my life training wise and I’m sure that was the biggest shift. Creatine RX has also just brought so much power in my lifts compared to when I wasn’t using it. So that’s an absolute must have.
Which is your favourite flavour by WOD Powders?
Tom: Favourite flavour by WOD Powders (not to be biased) but is seriously the Cream Soda clear whey. The flavour profile is just too spot on and it’s way too easily drank to have as much protein as it does. Over ice after a hot training day is a must. But a close second has to be the Golden Syrup Whey RX. Thank me later…
What’s your favourite cheat meal?
Tom: Top cheat meal. Just give me smash burgers and an Oreo milkshake. I’m a simple man. But nothing beats a good burger and milkshake in my opinion.
What’s your go to training music?
Tom: As well as loving listening to the music in my spare time or going to disco house nights out. It’s a go to training music for me. But I’m also a big rap lover. Give me og rap. Lil Wayne, Jay z or Kanye. If I want something more new school, it has to be Shoreline Mafia.
What motivates you as an athlete?
Tom: The thing that motivates me the most is truly the people around me. I really had a think at the start of the year on why I train and what is my overall why. I love being part of something pushing onwards with the people that I love spending time with. Lifting heavy is always a plus!
What do you see yourself accomplishing in the future?
Tom: I'm going for the commonwealth games baby!!
